The battery on my Android doesn’t seem to last as long as it used to. I noticed that Maps is using up most of my battery power. It seems to be the many Google apps that can be grabbing at your location data from Google Maps any time your phone is on. In some instances, I’ve noticed Maps constantly running in the background.
All that updating of your location takes its toll on your battery. You could disable “Location Services” altogether in the Android system settings. However, you may want to consider disabling a few things within the Maps app if you wish to keep “Location Services” running for other apps. Here’s how it’s done.
- Open the “Maps” app.
- Select the Menu tab located at the lower-left portion of the screen.
- Select “Settings“.
- Choose “Google location settings“
- Uncheck the “Access location” box to disable both “Location Reporting” and “Location History“. Alternately, you could turn one or both of the settings off individually buy selecting one, then selecting “Off“.
Disabling these settings in Google Maps helped me a great deal with taming battery depletion. I hope it helps you as well. Share your experience in the Comments section below.
